Everything is gonna be fine..

I don't know why but I find this photograph uplifting. I think it may be something to do with the Sunflower.

It's good to be alive...

Okay, Okay, I'll write about it...

I have been informed that even though I started this blog as a writing exercise and would talk about my stand up, I have in fact rarely mentioned it at all. So in a new development I will bore the pants off everyone by mentioning random gigs I have done from here on out.

Saturday night I performed on the comedy show "The Sky is Falling" at Jack Dempsey's pub across from the always beautiful at night Empire State building. It was produced by the never not amicable Cory Jarvis. He's got manners, I notice these things.
I was the first up in front of a pretty full room with a good crowd. I chose to do a long routine over short jokes in my new and often painful transition to be more personnel and natural. I never liked telling jokes and only after 3 1/2yrs feel somewhat comfortable talking about myself. It went well, they seemed interested in it. I didn't "Kill" or "Destroy", I got some laughs and a lot of smiling faces - that's good enough for now. My good friend Dana came to the show and it's always nice to see a familiar face in the crowd.

I stayed and watched the other acts which I enjoyed and very maturely walked past the bar and went home sober. Yes!! I've grown up! I had a good time.

The one thing I have noticed after doing stand up the last few years is the difference and how great its become between "before the show" and "during the show" nerves. My comfort levels before the show is actually worse now but I'm far more comfortable on stage. In fact I feel fine performing. Although stand up would not be much fun without the risk it involves.

So there, I wrote about it...

Never, Never, Never, Never give up - Winston Churchill

I took this photo in Australia of a bus shelter poster advertising some product or something. It really struck me. I loved it and wasn't really sure why at the time. It makes sense now as do a lot of things when you get older.

Why Irish & Italians? Does he know that "Meade" is an Irish version of the English "Mead" that means "From the meadow"? Most likely not.

Have you got it in a size 12?

Last night I had a dream that I was standing in a car lot reading the special deal sticker on the windscreen of a black car. "$20 a month to lease this car.", Incredible I thought. The only problem was that it was shaped like a shoe. The car was in fact a shoe. It had doors, windows, wheels and a roof. It had all the dials, seat belts and pedals. But, it was shaped like a shoe. It was a shoe car. A shoe car that was $20 a month to lease. It was also second hand. I called over my girlfriend and asked her what she thought. A bargain! The car was called the Buick Shoe.

The only problem was that I had to renew my license and god knows nobody likes doing that. Oh, and the car was a giant shoe. The Buick Shoe. The dream consisted mainly of me going back and forth on the pros and cons of driving around in a big shoe. In New York City. I can't remember how the dream ended but I do remember being trapped between vanity and economics.
